Question: Can you give me some pointers for thinning layered hair cuts?

Answer: Layered hair cuts can be done on short to long hair and in many different angles. Normally the 45 degree angle is used on long hair and the 90 degree angle on shorter hair. You need to have a good pair of scissors, with out these; any cut can be a challenge.

Part the hair across the crown from back of ear to back of ear, then from each temple to crown. Pin the remaining hair on top of the head. The hair on each side of the head is held out of the way with clip combs.

Starting at the top layer, the thinning or layering is done by dividing the hair into small sections and parting and lifting each lock separately. The length of the stroke in slithering (thinning process) depends upon the thickness of thinness of the hair. For instance, if the strand is thick the stroke is short, and if the hair is thin the stroke is long.

At the top of the layer is complete, repeat the thinning process on the second layer, and continue with each layer until you have reached the nape of the neck. Thin out the layers of the side of the head in the same manner. When all the hair thinning and layering is complete, trim the ends for a fresher look.

Be careful with thin hair, thinning already thin hair doesn’t make much sense.Instead resort to tapering just the ends.
