The average scalp has 150,000 hair follicles and about 90% of the hair is growing continuously and 10% is resting or falling out.
What is hair made of?
Hair is made of keratine (a type of protein). It grows from the roots which gets it vital ingredients from the blood that circulates in the scalp. The scalp is a living tissue but the hair itself is a dead tissue.
Why does hair fall out?
It is absolutely OK to experience loose hair on a daily bases and we normally don’t notice the hair loss until it is about fifty percent gone. The hair goes thru three phases. Anagen is when the hair is actively growing, Telogen known as the resting phase, and Catagen which is the phase where the hair falls out and that last about three weeks.
