I am 22 years old and have straight flat hair a bit past my shoulders with a round face. I live in the south so the humidity only makes it worse. I curl my hair everyday with hot rollers because it at least temporarily gives it some

volume. But the minute I walk outside it falls, reguardless of any help of products. I realize I have hair like most girls would love to have. But I feel like it doesn’t shape my face well. Is that correct? The best hope I have had with my hair is when it is shorter. But even at that the ends never stay

rolled under unless it is winter. What is the best suggestion for this problem?

Answer: Hi Amber,

Thank you for e-mailing us your question. First I would like to start with your statement “Hair most girls would like to have”. You are right! The truth is, almost every body would rather have some other type of hair rather than their own. In all the years I have been in this business, I rarely meet someone that is completely and blissfully satisfied with their hair. I think it has something to do with wanting what we can’t or shouldn’t have but, that’s another subject.

You say in your e-mail that you have tried other products and have not had any real results with them. I am sure that you have done your homework and are buying products that are specifically created for your hair type i.e.…weightless, clarifying shampoos and non-moisturizing conditioners that contain elastesse complex which aids with the bending and flexing of the hair..

Hair is extremely porous and sucks up water like a sponge. The humidity in the air is water that you can’t see like an invisible little spy whose only intent is to sabotage your hair doo. Humidity is worse than rain in that your hair can be protected from the rain but humidity, is every where.

Lastly Amber, my suggestion to you: love your hair like it is and know that you are blessed to have straight flat hair (as you put it). I don’t suggest cutting your hair short, (I rarely do). Get a good long cut that works with your straight ends and buy good products for your hair type. Remember, don’t make the mistake of buying a product based on how you want your hair to look, buy the product that is made for your hair type.
