foils in my auburn hair?? Hi Alison, Thanks for your e-mail to hair style questions.com. There are two colors on the color spectrum that go together as sweet as peanut butter and jelly and that is auburn hair with brown low lights or visa versa. I would sugjest that you have a pro d it and not to overwhelmingly. A little goes a long way but to little, might not have the stylish effect that you’re probably seeking. Also, it is not necesarry to do the whole head as the crown area is the main veiw point and working with only the crown area, gives a modern up beat look.
Since I don’t know much detail about the length, texture, or condition of your hair, I am reluctant to suggest more. But if a little brown low lights is all your seeking, make sure the low lights are not to dark; medium brown should do the job. Good Luck and let us know what you decided and the out-come. A Note For Stylist and Do It Your-Selfers:
There are three main and fundamental approaches that I would suggest to any hair stylist that has the honor to tend to Alison. Painted Lights Painted lights can be a great asset for client who has just had a tint applied to her hair. After rinsing off the tint . comb the hair back off the and paint fine streaks throygh thge front section with a mild solution of tint. Rinse the streaks off after 10 to 15 minutes according to the darkness required. This technique helps to create estra movement and subtlety in tinted hair. Tortoise Shell Highlights Tortoise Shell Highlights is suitaable for all brown shades of hair including auburn shades.Choose three contrasting colors (e.g. light brown, dark auburn, and honey) and mix seperately. Section the head in the same way as the basic highlighting techmique but alternate the three colors in each section to create an even distribution of color. Shading Lights Shading Lights is yet another method of using two or three different colors for lights in the hair and is particularly effective on a light auburn base. Section the hair as in the basic highlighting technique and take ½ inch sections, applying the tint to the top 1/8 inch of each section as with strip highlighting. Apply the three color in alternate strips to cteate a shading effect.
