Question: Do you recommend Mizani Relaxers for hair that has been processed? Which relaxer strength do you suggest I use?

Answer: Mizani hair care products are the gold standard, the absolute premium, salon exclusive hair care and treatment product that totally caters to the person of African American descent. If you have extremely curly hair or your hair is thick course and dry, Mizani is able to bring the balance that you might be looking for. After all that is what Mizani translates to in the language of Swahili: Balance.

Mizani has combined the perfect balance of oils, proteins, and conditioners in all their line of products. The product line can be grouped in four distinctive categories.

  1. Mizani shampoo, Conditioner, and Treatments
  2. Mizani Styling & Finishing Products
  3. Mizani Butter Blend-Micro-Emulsion Relaxer System
  4. Mizani Prefessional Relaxer Systems

The Mizani Relaxer System comes in three different strengths.

  • Fine / c-t mild, for sensitive scalp or color treated hair and the avid user and contains a strength protector called Argining.
  • Medium/regular normal strength formula for normal hair and as all the Mizani relaxers, it contains a sodium hydroxide conditioning agent.
  • Coarse/resistant super strength formula for coarse and resistant hair types that are thick and most likely have never been chemically processed

Always follow directions when using this and any product. Mizani relaxers contain sodium hydroxide better known as LYE. This chemical should never be used on hair that contains ammonium thioglycolate (curly per) or natural relaxers that may have metallic salts (ammonium bisulfite). Don’t use on bleached hair or hair that has been exposed to compound henna’s or metallic dyes.
