Is the Chi Hair Straightener better than the old ceramic hair straightener?
By Yvonne Dueno | September 9, 2007
Question: Is the Chi Hair Straightener better than the old ceramic hair straightener?
Answer: The chi hair straightener. Gosh I just love this product, especially the newer model. The new models are a little different from the original one. First of all I find that the latest version is easier to handle and grip. It also has temperature settings that the old one didn’t have. I’m down with that felt lining they put on the back of the plates too cause it keeps my fingers from feeling the heat.

The manufactures of the Chi Turbo Ceramic Flat Iron is Farouk Systems, Inc. My clients call it the chi hair straightener; and straighten it does.
Farouk has at least four models to choose from that I know of. The regular one inch chi turbo that will run you about $120.00. The big two inch chi turbo for a hot $129.00 and the mini seven inch chi turbo which is also about $120.00. These will usually come with a free heat proof iron pouch/mat that comes in real handy when working with the iron any length of time. This pouch/mat will protect your tool and your countertops as well.
The Chi Ceramic flat iron (Turbo 2) is usually my choice for clients with long, thick curly hair. However, no matter what hair style whether I’m straightening, flipping, crimping or curling, these flat irons always come through.
What others say about it.
I bought a CHI flat ceramic iron, with some trepidation. They aren’t cheap. Wow, I had to pay over $100 and this at a discount online website. I didn’t want to buy a cheap tool; figuring that poor service life or poor performance would be a bad investment. Plus, I could always ebay the item if I was ultimately not enchanted.
Unlike a curling iron made of metal, the ceramic surface straightens and somehow reduces static. And the smoothness, the glass-like surface slides across the hair, contacting each hair to make a shiny smooth finish.
