Question: How much do hair extensions cost?

Answer: Hair extensions come in a variety of types and styles and as a product of a wide range prices for hair extensions will vary. Before we go into the details of price we should first look at the most common reasons for choosing hair extensions.

Extensions add instant volume to your hair.

When time is a factor; women often add hair extensions to their own natural hair to increase length, add volume and enrich the body of their hair. Another advantage extensions offer a quick solution for coloring hair and adding highlights without the use of chemicals. Hair extensions can be a one night stand or can last many months without the need to replace.

What are the different types and costs of hair?

The price of hair tends to be directly associated with the type and quality of the hair. Human hair tends to command the highest price over synthetic hair. Untreated or non chemically treated (virgin) hair costs even more that average human hair. In addition to the types and quality of the hair extension the method for application also impacts the price of the hair.

    Common Applications

Short term solutions are commonly known as Clip-on hair extensions and their price tends to reflect their brief nature. Clip-ons tend to range from $20.00 to $200 for a kit.

    Bonding and Hot Fusion

With the hot fusions method the extensions are glued to your natural hair. This process requires a specialist and costs around $300.

    Cold Fusion Method

Cold Fusion is a relative new technology and tends to be gentle on the hair. The only disadvantage is that is can be expensive and costs from $1,000 to $3,000.

    Weave Method

This is a common method where hair extensions are braided and blended into the natural hair. This method is also very expensive and costs around $500 to $1,000.

There are many places to purchase quality hair extensions and just as many places available to apply them to your hair. So be prudent, shop around and compare prices. Remember don’t make a decision based on price alone make sure that the hairdresser is qualified and has a good overall reputation. It’s your hair and you deserve the best.
