When I was growing up in New York City, I was the youngest of seven girls. When you’re from a Puerto Rican family you see many types of hair ranging from extremely curly and even kinky to super dead straight and every thing in between.Eppy Classic New York Style

Imagine seven of us girls and young ladies, sharing the same space. If any of you have ever had sisters, you know how challenging seven sisters in a house with an absolute common area rule can be. Being the youngest of us all I was right on time for seeing and learning about life. I learned about music, dressing in stylish clothe, boys, heart breaks, Love, and among many other things….. I learned about hair.

I grew up in the “hair business” because my father had many salons / barbershops and till this day 60 years later he still practices the trade.

I guess you can say it’s his life, our life.

I chose hair as a career because it just made sense. My father is a Barber by trade and an Actor by passion. Eppy Dueno (that’s my fathers name) was great at every thing he did; every barber shop he owned turned to gold. He stared in eleven small budget movies and was very convincing in all of them. Yeyo To me however, his greatest talent was Hair Cutting and the Barber Shop Hair Salon business. You can read more about this great talented man and his legacy by clicking on the Eppy Dueno Bio . You’ll even be able to ask Eppy questions and see him show step by step instructions. There are also a few clips from his movies for your viewing pleasure.

It has been over thirty years since I made my first real bunch of cash for doing hair. My first experiment with a patron was at nine years old when my good ole’ friend Norberto Cruz let me cut his hair one Sunday afternoon after church. I just knew I was ready; after all I had been practicing with all my Barbie dolls and every other doll I ever got. So I gave Norby (that’s what we all called him) a hair cut. I should have been taken to a juvenile detention facility because what I did to his hair was an out right crime. But finally, with much work and dedication, I learned how to work hair; any type of hair. Hence my devotion in helping all those in dyer need of so.

I have used many of the main stream products available to us since 1973; great products like Club Men,

Redken, Clairol and many of the old school product lines. As style evolved so did the products. New lines were introduced and I have worked with them all. The procedures haven’t really changed much, that saying that the more things change the more they stay the same rings true in the hair business. So ask us anything, anything at all, and we will be there for you.

    Sincerely,

Yvonne Dueno and the crew :-) Classic Youth Hair Cut
